‘As Bestas’, a Spanish film directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, is one of the films with the highest number of nominations on this list recently published by the Platino Awards. The film, which was the winner of the Best Film category at the Goya Spanish Film Awards, tells the story of the French couple “Antoine and Olga who settled a long time ago in a village in the countryside of Galicia. There they lead a quiet life, although their coexistence with the locals is not as idyllic as they would like. A conflict with their neighbors, the Anta brothers, will cause tension to grow in the village until it reaches a point of no return," the synopsis states.

In addition to this Spanish production, the Colombian film 'Los Reyes del Mundo' also managed to position itself in eight categories: 'Best Ibero-American Film', 'Platinum Award for Film and Education in Values', 'Best Director', 'Best Script', ' Best Editing Direction', 'Best Cinematography', 'Best Sound', and 'Best Original Score'. The film, directed by Laura Mora, “is a film about disobedience, friendship, and the dignity that exists in resistance. Rá, Culebro, Sere, Winny and Nano. Five boys from the streets of Medellín. Five kings without a kingdom, without law, without a family, embark on a journey in search of the promised land. A subversive tale through a wild and endearing clan, which transits between reality and delirium. A trip to nowhere, where everything happens”.

In the Best Ibero-American Fiction Film category, the Spanish 'Alcarrás', 'Argentina, 1985', the Venezuelan 'La Caja', the Bolivian 'Utama', the Colombian 'La Jauría', the Peruvian 'El corazón de la Luna' and the Chilean 'Blanquita'. Also shortlisted in this category is the film directed by the Mexican Alejandro González Iñárritu 'Bardo, or False Chronicle of a few truths'.

The Paraguayan film 'EAMI', for its part, is shortlisted in the categories 'Best Documentary' and 'Platinum Award for Film and Education in Values'.
