SEPTA officials are considering restoring weekend late-night service on the Broad Street and Market-Frankford lines, due to the rise in Philadelphia nightlife.

The trains will temporarily run until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays to test the service. The costs of offering this service must still be assessed to determine a further extension.

SEPTA stopped late-night subway service in early 1990s due to cost and security. They do however offer "night owl" buses.
