Gentrification, Integration and Equity
December 3, 2014
Program: 5:30 p.m.
Reception: 7 p.m.
Free Library of Philadelphia (Parkway Central) Auditorium and Reception in the Skyline Room
How can we make Philadelphia a more economically integrated, accessible and livable city for all? Explore how Philadelphia and other cities are addressing this important question through transit, housing and other infrastructure projects.
Philadelphia is changing — with new parks, new housing and bikeshare on its way. But some Philadelphians fear a new wave of gentrification and other neighborhoods are being left behind. How can we encourage development but ensure the city remains affordable? How can we create a city with the public spaces and amenities that attract top talent, but that are accessible for everyone? In an era of limited public works, where should we be investing? This panel discussion will explore how development, economic integration and transportation all intersect in our neighborhoods.
