Last month, Exelon — the nation’s largest energy delivery company — announced the nomination of Charisse Lillie to its Board of Directors.

An experienced professional within the Philadelphia area, Lillie has established herself as a strong voice on a number of different topics. She is a true triple threat, as a businesswoman, attorney and lecturer.

Lillie is currently the CEO of CRL Consulting LLC, a Philadelphia-based firm that offers consulting services in corporate governance, diversity and corporate social responsibility. She has filled the role since 2017.

Throughout her career, Lillie has held multiple roles and positions. Twenty-five years of her career were spent with Comcast Corporation and Ballard Spahr, respectively.

She spent about 12 years with Comcast Corporation, more recently as executive vice president of community investment where she oversaw corporate giving, while also leading the work of the Comcast Foundation as president for 8 years. She also served as head of Comcast Human Resources.

Prior to that, Lillie worked over 13 years with Ballard Spahr, including nearly 3 years as chair of the Litigation Department at the firm.

Other prior roles include several years in public service, including City Solicitor, General Counsel to the Redevelopment of the City of Philadelphia, and Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Pennsylvania’s Civil Division. Lillie also taught law at Villanova School of Law and was deputy director at Community Legal Services, Inc.

She began her career as a law clerk for US District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Honorable Clifford Scott Green, before becoming a trial attorney in the Honors Program at the U.S. Department of Justice in the Civil Rights Division.

“Charisse Lillie’s years of experience in law, public service and corporate community investment and her experience on PECO’s Board… will bring fresh perspectives and a greater focus on the clean energy transformation and its benefit to our customers and the communities we serve,” said Exelon President and CEO Calvin Butler, in a statement.

Lillie holds a bachelor's degree in Government and History from Wesleyan University, a Juris Doctorate from Temple University School of Law and a Master of Law degree from Yale University.

She has been a member of the PECO board since 2010; however, Lillie's service as a PECO director will end upon her election to the Exelon Board.

She would also become the only Exelon board director based in Philadelphia.

Exelon has also nominated Matthew C. Rogers, operating partner for Ajax Strategies LLC, as a board candidate. Directors Paul Joskow, Ann Berzin and Carlos Gutierrez will each be leaving the Board at the end of their terms.

With the exception of the president & CEO, all members of the Exelon board are independent directors under applicable law.
