iHeartMedia has announced in a press release that Fernando A. Pérez has been named Program Director for Rumba 106.1, #1 Para Reggaetón Y Variedad En Philadelphia.

iHeartMedia is known for many brands and franchises, including six stations of Latin music, playing genres like Reggaetón, Urban Pop, Bachata, Salsa, and more.

Other styles of music include Hip-Hop and R&B, CHR, and ALT Rock. iHeartMedia also offers several Sports Talk formats alongside their music selection.

Pérez is a veteran radio executive, possessing over 20 years of experience in programming multiple Spanish language formats for U.S. Hispanic audiences.

Before joining iHeartMedia, Pérez worked with several high profile audio brands and personalities, including Univison’s Uforia podcast, the nationally-syndicated El Show de Piolín, and El Show de Omar & Argelia. He will be overseeing the day-to-day operations of the station’s music, programming, imaging, and its branding.

Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Philadelphia, Derrick Corbett, will be overseeing his work.

Corbett spoke about Pérez’s qualifications. “It's a privilege for us to be able to add a programmer with Fernando’s expertise to our team here in Philly,” he said. “His incredible level of knowledge is exactly what we need to not only help grow Rumba, but to also utilize as a resource within our cluster.”

As iHeartMedia has a leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms, delivering more live media than any other company, a program director was a necessity.

“Fernando is a programming scientist, a formidable talent coach and carries extensive expertise in very competitive markets,” said PJ Gonzalez, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartLatino. “He is someone who welcomes challenges and will definitely go down as one of the best in the business in Philadelphia radio market history.”

As a previous Univision vice president, Pérez has led programming for over 20 stations across America. He has also held roles for companies like Spanish Broadcasting System and CBS Radio.

“I’m thrilled to have the exciting opportunity to join the newly launched Rumba 106.1 and participate in this opportunity from iHeartMedia to serve one of the fastest-growing Hispanic populations in the country,” said Pérez. “I’m honored and grateful to be part of the talented team at iHeartMedia Philadelphia and iHeartLatino.”

iHeartMedia is a media outlet in the Philadelphia market with multiple platforms, ranging from broadcast stations, live events, and digital businesses and platforms, including its own iHeartRadio.
