Michael Montelongo elected to NACD board of directors

The governance leader is a former chief financial officer of the US Air Force and current president and CEO of a board management firm.

The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the boardroom practice authority representing more than 23,000 board members, recently announced that Michael Montelongo has been elected to its board of directors, an appointment that will be effective on July 1.

Montelongo, who is currently president and CEO of GRC Advisory Services LLC, a board management firm, is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a former executive of a global management-consulting firm, and a regional telecommunications company.

Montelongo’s Career

Montelongo is recognized for being appointed as the 19th Under Secretary for Financial Management by the White House during the George W. Bush administration, as well as for his role as chief financial officer of the US Air Force between August 2001 and March 2005.

Corporate Leadership

Montelongo, who was also managing director and senior vice president of Sodexo Inc., serves on the following boards of directors:

  • Civeo Corporation, a multinational accommodation and food service
  • Conduent Inc., an IT business process outsourcing company
  • Privately owned Palmex I Ltd., an international producer of granule snacks

As a long-standing member of NACD, Montelongo is a leadership member of its board and serves on the battlefield on the Boardroom Steering Committee and as a NACD faculty member.

Montelongo, who earned his BS from West Point and an MBA from Harvard Business School, has also been noted for his prolific career in the US Army, where he led staff and line assignments, and where he has been recognized with a congressional fellowship to the US Senate and for his service as an assistant professor of economics and political science at West Point.

The financial leader is also a founding member of the Latino Corporate Directors Association (LCDA), is featured in several nationally recognized Hispanic/Latino publications and board government magazines, including Hispanic Executive, Hispanic Business magazine's list of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics, Directors & Boards, Directorship, and Private Company Director.
