La Reina del Sur gets premiere date
The long-awaited season of the series “La Reina del Sur”, starring Mexican actress Kate del Castillo, will premiere in October 2022.

“1493 days have passed since we haven't seen Teresa, but in October the wait ends. "La Reina Del Sur" returns to Telemundo with a season that will give a lot to talk about, "the protagonist of the production wrote on her Instagram account.
Kate del Castillo thus announced that the third season of La Reina del Sur finally has a premiere month, although she did not specify the specific release date. It will be in October of this year 2022 when the public and fans of the television drama will be able to enjoy the new chapters.
The television series tells the story of Teresa Mendoza (character played by Mexican actress Kate del Castillo), who becomes a powerful person in the world of drug trafficking.
The new episodes begin four years after the end of the second season and the protagonist is seen in a maximum security prison in the United States, after being arrested for the murder of DEA agents. However, Mendoza manages to escape, she travels almost the entire American continent while planning a new attack on the American anti-drug agency.
“Kate del Castillo continues to be the heart of this series and now this epic saga continues full of action, suspense and adventure, revealing the new purpose of Teresa Mendoza, such an iconic character for our audience”, said Karen Barroeta, EVP of Production & Development at Telemundo Global Studios, in a statement.
The show of the upcoming season took place in around 16 Latin American turistic attractions suchs as Santa Marta in Colombia, Machu Picchu in Peru, and the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia.
In addition to Del Castillo, the cast of the third season of the Queen of the South is made up of Humberto Zurita, Isabella Sierra, Kika Edgar, Alejandro Calva, Tiago Correa, Eduardo Yáñez, Lincoln Palomeque, Antonio Gil, Emmanuel Orenday, Cuca Escribano, Sara Vidorreta, Agata Clares, Dmitry Anisimov, Noe Hernández, Horacio Garcia Rojas, Ed Trucco, Carlos Valencia, Arturo Ríos, Denia Agalianou, Anderley Palomino, Fernando Solorzano, and Victor Rebull.
La Reina del Sur is inspired by the homonymous novel by the Spanish writer Arturo Pérez Reverte.
The first season premiered in 2011 and the second came eight years later with an award included: it won an Emmy for best non-English speaking prime time series. Both seasons set a record for Telemundo, which will once again broadcast the new episodes in Puerto Rico and the United States. In the rest of the world, the production will be available on Netflix streaming platform.
The direction of the new season is in charge of Carlos Bolado, Carlos Villegas and Claudia Pedraza; while the script was written by Lina Uribe and Darío Vanegas.
