The trailer for the film Deep Water, which is coined an erotic thriller, was released this week. The film follows protagonist, Melinda Van Allen (Ana de Armas) and her husband Vic Van Allen (Ben Affleck), a couple who are living the twilight of their marriage. Even though there’s no hope, they will fight to keep love alive in unconventional ways.

Their relationship is deteriorated by mistrust, sick jealousy and resentment. Amid these mean feelings, adventures, lovers, and lies, both will be carried away by mind games until fate turns deadly and a first victims appears.

The shooting of the feature film was surrounded by controversy as the intimate scenes led to a crush developing between the starring actor and actress. De Armas and Affleck began a relationship, but their real story didn't last long and did not have a happy ending. Now, the Cuban-Spanish actress has a new partner and Affleck got back together with his ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez, after their divorce 17 years ago.

Besides De Armas and Affleck, Jacob Elordi, Jade Fernández, Tracy Letts, Kristen Connolly, Rachel Blanchard, Dash Mihok, Lil Rel Howery, Finn Wittrock, Michael Braun, Michael Scialabba, Grace Jenkins, Brendan C. Miller, Devyn Tyler, and Jeff Pope are part of the cast of the movie.

Deep Water is based on the novel of the same name written by Patricia Highsmithe in 1957. Considered one of the most important writers of the 20th century, Highsmith is one of the major figures in the suspense genre. Her books have previously inspired other movie projects such as Carol, which was brought to the big screen by the filmmaker Todd Haynes.

The production of Deep Water was led by New Regency and 20th Century Studios with Adrian Lyne at the helm. He previously directed Fatal Attraction (1987), Indecent Proposal (1993), Lolita (1997) and Unfaithful (2002). Deep Water is his first film in 20 years.

After its premiere was delayed last January, the film will finally be available in the United States on Hulu on March 18. In Spain, it will be released on Amazon Prime Video.
