Prime Video is producing an Argentinian version of the Amazon Original series LOL: Last One Laughing. Ten comedians from all over the country will participate in the contest. Among them are Migue Granados, Lucas Spadafora, Yayo Guridi, Juampi González, Mica Lapegüe, Charo López and Julián Lucero.
Each of them are different. There are those with an already established career, political comedians, and characters born in the age of the internet and social media.
“We have brought together the best comedians from across the country for this special series that will undoubtedly make you laugh from start to finish,” said Marie Leguizamo, director of Banijay Mexico & U.S. Hispanic, and show runner of LOL: Last One Laughing.
Each of the participants has to try to make their opponents laugh while avoiding laughter themselves to progress.
The winner of LOL receives a monetary prize, which will be donated to a nonprofit.
LOL Argentina will be hosted by the well-known actress and television presenter Susana Giménez.
“Her presence will bring global attention to the comedy scene in Argentina. She is an icon and will run the house with her style and personality. We are sure that Prime Video members will enjoy this show as much as the public in the rest of the world," said Javiera Balmaceda, Head of Local Originals for Latin America, Canada and Australia of Amazon Studios, in a statement.
Giménez will be accompanied by actor Grego Rosello as her assistant.
The comedy reality show is an adaptation of Japan's popular Prime Original series Hitoshi Matsumoto Presents Documental. Japanese film director and comedian Hitoshi Matsumoto hosts this show that sees 10 comedians bet money and participate in a laugh battle where everything is allowed.
The shoot and release dates are still to be determined.
This is not the first time that Prime Video features Susana Giménez, who, in addition to being a host, is a film, theater, and television actress, and a businesswoman. In 2021, the renowned 78-year-old Latin television diva was part of the cast of the comedy series Porno y Helado.
Argentina's catalog includes several local productions, such as Maradona: Blessed Dream, Argentina, and other upcoming projects, such as Barrabrava.
