Colombia has ranked third in the world among the countries with the greatest natural beauty, according to a list published by Forbes magazine. With a rating of 7.16 out of 10, the country entered the top along with Indonesia and New Zealand.

"Colombia ranks third and, like Indonesia and New Zealand, enjoys a long coastline along the Caribbean. However, it also has a very varied landscape, from the Andes mountains to the Amazon rainforest, and scores highly for the fact that it is home to 500,000 km2 of tropical rainforest," the money.co.uk study noted.

The geography of the Colombian territory, made up of mountains, tropical forests and its Amazon rainforest, once again placed the country among the highest qualifiers associated with its natural beauty.

According to the ranking, the most beautiful place in the world is Indonesia, which has a natural beauty score of 7.77 out of 10. Indonesia is home to more than 17,000 islands.

"And just off the shores of these islands, you'll find more than 31,000 square miles of coral reefs, teeming with life, many of which can be explored from the popular province of Bali," Haqqi says.

"New Zealand (with an overall score of 7.27 out of 10) is home to rolling hills, sharp mountain peaks (including the Southern Alps) and a number of active volcanoes. The country also boasts a high number of glaciers, with just over 5,000 per 100,000 square kilometers and an extensive coastline of over 15,000 square kilometers. With a very diverse landscape, thousands of people flock to this country to sample its natural wonders for themselves," reads the website.
