“When a young girl, who aspires to be an artist, is forced to join her high school track team, she uses it as an opportunity to pursue the girl she has had a crush on for a long time. But soon, unexpectedly, she will fall in love with another person from the same team,” reads the synopsis of Crush, a new series that recently premiered on the Hulu.

The new rom-com, considered LGBTQ-friendly, stars young Latina actress Isabella Ferreira. The cast also includes Rowan Blanchard and Auli'i Cravalho. Sammi Cohen is the series director.

The series takes place in a high school and tells the story of three girls. One is Paige (Rowan Blanchard), who will be forced to join the track team to avoid being suspended. Paige takes the opportunity to get close to her crush Gabriella (Isabella Ferreira), who is the team captain.

The love between the two seems to flow until Paige falls in love with another teammate AJ (Auli'i Cravalho), who is Gabriella's sister.

“I am very grateful and blessed to be able to have the opportunities that I have had, to be able to represent, first of all, Latinos and also the LGBTQ community,” said Ferreira in an interview with NBC.

The 19-year-old Latina says she learned a lot from her fictional character.

“The most is probably just learning how to be more confident in myself and kind of doing things for myself as opposed to thinking about what others are thinking about me, because at the end of the day, you’re going to get the attention of whoever. But at the end of the day you only have yourself. So I think I'm just learning how to be a little bit more confident in myself and probably areas about myself that I may not have been so confident in before,” she said in an interview with The Wrap.

Ferreira hopes that the series catches the public's attention and help them to follow their heart and be true to her ideals, values and beliefs.
