She was ‘the party’s choice’. She was endorsed by President Obama and Governor Wolf, among others. And on April 26 voters gave her the nomination.

Katie McGinty won the Democratic primary for one of Pennsylvania’s seats in U.S. Senate. McGinty will face the Republican incumbent, Patrick J. Toomey. McGinty, who garnered about 43 percent of the vote, beat Joseph Sestak who received about 33 percent of the vote, according to data offered by Pa. Department of State. John Fetterman came in third place with about 19.6 percent.

State Rep. Dwight Evans took incumbent Congressman Chaka Fattah’s seat for the Second Congressional District. Evans had about 43 percent votes, while Fattah garnered around 37 percent.

Last but not least. Josh Shapiro won the democratic nomination for Pennsylvania attorney general with 56 percent voting for the current Montgomery County Board of Commissioners chair. Shapiro beat Stephen Zappala who received 33.58 percent of the vote and John Morganelli who got 10.4 percent.

On the Republican side, the winner was John Rafferty (77.4 percent votes) defeating Joseph Peters who garnered 22.7 percent. Rafferty will face Shapiro in the general election in November.
