White students no longer the majority

This year, for the first time in the history of the United States, there will be more minority students than white students in public schools, according to projections from the National Center for Education Statistics.
In the upcoming school year 2014-2015, white students will represent 49.8 percent, compared to 25.8 percent Hispanic, 15.4 percent black, 5.2 percent Asian and Pacific Islander, 2.8 percent biracial students, and 1.1 American Indian and Alaska Native.

In the upcoming school year 2014-2015, white students will represent 49.8 percent, compared to 25.8 percent Hispanic, 15.4 percent black, 5.2 percent Asian and Pacific Islander, 2.8 percent biracial students, and 1.1 American Indian and Alaska Native.
For school year 2023, the percentage of white students in the public school system is expected to drop to 45.1 percent.
