AL DÍA Talks will welcome Dr. Ignacio Sánchez for a conversation on Thursday, May 17, at 4 p.m.

As the president of the Chilean university ranked first among all universities in the entirety of Latin America in 2018 and an accomplished medical professional, Dr. Ignacio Sánchez is a leader in the fields of education and medicine at the national and international levels.

Dr. Sánchez currently serves as president of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where he attended and completed his medical studies, specializing in pediatrics. He went on to also study pediatric respirology at the University of Manitoba, Canada. Before he became president of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in 2010, Dr. Sánchez headed the department of pediatrics, the School of Medicine, and served as dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the same institution.

Prior to receiving an honorary degree from Drexel University College of Medicine at the school’s commencement ceremony on May 18, Dr. Sánchez will take the time to visit the AL DÍA newsroom on May 17 to talk about his career path and the future of medicine and education in Latin America and beyond.
